Hello everyone,
My name is Davon, im 27 and studying a BA (Hons) Lanscape Architecture Degree at Kingston University.
Hmmm....a bit about me....well i'm married and live in Horsham, West Sussex with my lovely wife Jill. I moved quite a lot when i was younger but mainly grew up in Kent where i attended school at Kemnal Technology College.
After finishing school having enjoyed Art and Geography, i then went on to study a National Diploma in Art & Design and A-Level Photography at Sussex Downs College in Eastbourne. I specialised in the second year of the Diploma in Graphic Design, however after finishing the two years i felt at the time i wasn't ready for University and decided to take a year out and work.
What was meant to be a year of work turned into 8 years, incredible how time flies!! Over the 8 years i was working for the largest Garden Centre chain in the uk, then known as 'Wyevale' (now known as 'The Garden Centre Group'.)
I began working for the company part-time at a store near Eastbourne but quickly moved to full-time, and within 3 years got to the position of Shop Manager (1 0f 3 managers at the Centre). After meeting my wife jill and relocating to Horsham in 2009 i also relocated my job to a nearer store at Dorking, Surrey.
After approximately a year at Dorking i began to feel that i wanted a change of direction in my career and to move away from retail. I began to feel that i had missed out on University and began to look at courses. Whilst doing this i came across the Landscape Institute website. Having spent some time on the site i found it hard to draw myself away from it! Watching videos like 'I want to be a Landscape Architect' really inspired me and sparked the designer in me which had been hiding in the background for years!
So here i am studying in the first year and really enjoying myself and looking forward to the challenges the course is going to throw at me!
In my spare time i enjoy Mountain Biking and the gym. I also like Climbing and Hiking and so once a year i go to the Lake District or Scotland and climb a few mountains!
In 2009 i completed the 'Tour Du Mont Blanc' which is a long distance endurance walk in the Alps. The route crosses France, Italy and Switzerland in one walk starting and finishing in Chamonix, France. Usually completed in around 12days, myself and my brother challenged ourselves to complete it in 7days and were successful (at the expense of my feet due to blisters!). The walk taught me many things but since returning i know that wherever i sleep it will never be as hard as sleeping in a converted cow shed at 8200ft in the french alps!
And that is pretty much me!
