The L.A 'Green Highway' Proposal
I found this image on http://www.urbanism.org/category/multi-level-urbanism/page/3/.
I came across this when searching for similar images relating to and inspired from the New York High Line project. Its been proposed by american architect John Dutton, author of 'New American Urbanism: Re-forming the Suburban Metropolis' and founder of 'Duttons Architects' in L.A.
This 2009 proposal for changing Los Angeles Freeway into a green space for gardens, pathways, cycleways, space for market places and recreational play areas is such a good use of space and really shows the way architects are designing for the future, re-using objects for a different purpose and thinking green in the process.
A really interesting idea about the proposal was to include vertical farms. These would allow farming and agriculture nearby without taking up large areas.
I really like this image and proposal as it shows what can be achieved as certain infastructure's become unused and obsolete.
A Dream.....or a future reality?
